Notes
Notes Capture
Use a separate hotkey to capture speech as quick notes in Vorn Voice.
Vorn Voice has a dedicated notes feature. Instead of pasting dictated text into the active app, notes capture saves the transcription to an in-app notes sidebar.
How it works
- Press the notes hotkey (default: Shift+Command+N on macOS, Ctrl+Shift+N on Windows/Linux).
- Speak your note.
- Release the key. The transcription is saved as a note with a timestamp.
Notes appear in the sidebar panel inside the Vorn Voice settings window. Each note shows the transcribed text, word count, duration, and when it was captured.
When to use notes
- Capturing quick thoughts without switching to a notes app.
- Recording ideas during a meeting or conversation.
- Building a log of voice notes throughout the day.
Notes vs dictation
| Feature | Dictation | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Output | Pastes into active app (or clipboard) | Saved in Vorn sidebar |
| Hotkey | Dictation shortcut | Notes shortcut |
| Use case | Writing in other apps | Quick capture for later |
Both features use the same transcription model and settings (dictionary, speech cleanup, etc.).
