Local Models
How to download, manage, and switch between local transcription models.
Local models run on your device with no network connection required. Audio is processed entirely on your machine.
Downloading a model
- Open Vorn Voice settings.
- Go to the model selection panel.
- Models that are not yet installed show a download button with the file size.
- Click to download. Progress is shown during the download.
Models are stored in your app data directory:

Switching models
Select any installed model from the list in settings. The switch takes effect immediately for the next dictation.
Vorn Voice remembers your last local model, so if you switch to cloud and back, it returns to the local model you were using.
Removing models
To free up disk space, you can uninstall models you are not using. The app validates that the active model is still available. If you delete the active model, the app reverts to the default (Vorn Standard).
Bundled vs downloaded
Some models come bundled with the app installer. Others are downloaded on demand. Bundled models are available immediately after installation without a separate download step.
